A rolling list I've been making
...for 3 years

“Not everything that is faced can be changed,
but nothing can be changed until it is faced…”
Mona’s notes
I write when I feel the vibe. It’s the holidays and I have little energy for long-form writing, but I am feeling a good list these days. They feel like snacks and seem fitting for this season.
To keep things light, here is a snapshot from a rolling list I’ve been making on my phone for the past 3 years - usually whilst riding the underground. This list is massive so I’ve edited it down to what feels relevant to where I am at the moment.
Some of these might become a newsletter or a tweet. Some might become an IG post (& omg I am considering the TikTok). Some might remain exactly where they are…for me only 😇
Here are 17, because I like an awkward number:
If you’re avoiding it, then that’s the work.
Read like you’re running out of time.
Attack your best ideas.
If you are confused, write it out.
Don’t get high on your own supply.
Everything I’m not, made me everything I am (K West)
If it’s not changing the outcome, stop polishing it.
Push the button…🙄
Think alone.
Ask what something is for - and then ask again.
My attention is a currency, one I’ll never get back if spent poorly.
Finish before the end.
If you are everywhere, you are no where.
Solitude is a blessing, loneliness a curse.
Reputation is not what is announced, it’s what’s whispered.
Use your unfair advantage.
Make my mood before my mood makes me.
And the list goes on…
Try it for yourself and keep a rolling list of whatever crosses your mind, no matter how insignificant it feels in the moment. It’s one of the best gifts I’ve inadvertently given myself…the gift of noticing.
Love Mona x

If you move from list to checklist….this book is fascinating: The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right is a December 2009 non-fiction book by Atul Gawande
